AI features
In short
- The Director and rocks from a photo run on your own AI key, from the provider you choose (Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, xAI's Grok or Meta's Muse). That provider bills you for what you use; it costs no Genmodic credits.
- Our support assistant uses Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, on our account.
- What the AI builds in your world is yours, like anything else you make.
- AI can be wrong or surprising. Check what it makes before you share or sell it.
- We don't use your prompts, screenshots or photos to train AI. With your own key, your provider's terms decide what it does with them.
1. Which features use AI
- The Director (“Describe anything”): reads your request, the scene and a screenshot of the view, and uses Genmodic's own tools to build or change your world.
- Rocks from a photo, and reading a reference photo into a world.
- Customer support: Contact support is answered first by an AI assistant (Claude). It can look at your account and purchases, resend emails, cancel a plan when you ask, report content and make refunds within fixed rules (see how refunds work); anything else goes to a person, and you can always ask for one.
- Our own support work: Claude drafts our response to a disputed payment (a person reviews it before it's sent) and summarises feedback for our team.
- Model generation, in the local edition only, with your own Meshy key.
- Other features may use AI later. We'll say so in the app and update this page and the service providers list first.
2. What's sent, and what isn't kept
The Director and rocks from a photo. You add your own API key for the provider you choose in the Director's settings. The key stays in your browser on that device. For each request, the editor sends your words, a description of the scene, a screenshot of the view, your game's bible if it has one and, if you gave one, the photo, together with your key, through Genmodic's servers to that provider. We pass the key on and don't store or log it, and we don't keep the request. The provider processes it under its own terms with you, including what it keeps and whether it trains on it, and bills your account; check your provider's API terms and settings. Keep your key private, and remove it from the Director's settings on a shared computer. In the local edition, Claude is called straight from your browser.
Customer support. Support requests go to Anthropic on our account. Anthropic processes them to answer, doesn't train its models on them, and keeps them only for a limited time for trust and safety under its commercial terms. Support conversations are kept as described in the Privacy Policy (see the Privacy Policy). Don't put other people's private information or anything confidential in prompts or photos.
3. Who owns the results
As between you and us, what the Director makes in your world is Your Content under the Terms of Service, and we claim no ownership of it. Library models it places are still licensed under the Model and export licence. Copyright law may not protect purely AI-generated material in some countries (including the US), so others may be free to make similar things; your own creative choices in arranging and editing a world are what copyright usually protects.
4. AI makes mistakes
AI output can be inaccurate, unexpected, or similar to things other people have made or asked for. It isn't professional advice. You're responsible for reviewing what it makes before you rely on it, share it or sell it, including checking that it doesn't copy someone else's work or break the content rules. Undo is always there.
5. Rules for using AI
Don't use AI features to make anything the content rules forbid, to impersonate real people, or to get around the AI's safety measures. The usage policy of the AI provider you use also applies (for Claude, Anthropic's usage policy). Most providers only give API keys to adults. The AI may decline some requests.
6. Credits
The Director costs no Genmodic credits: it runs on your own key, and your provider bills you. Credits pay for AI generation that runs on our accounts, such as AI video for cut scenes. Each one shows its price in credits before it starts. Monthly credits come with your plan, are used first and reset each month; purchased credits don't expire while your account is open. Credits have no cash value, can't be transferred, and are refunded only as described in Plans, purchases and refunds. If a generation fails, you aren't charged for it.
Have a lawyer review the own-key wording (sections 1, 2 and 6) and the Privacy Policy's AI section before launch.
