Content and acceptable use
In short
Make anything you like for yourself. What you share or sell on Genmodic has to be yours to share, legal, and not aimed at hurting anyone. These rules apply to worlds, models you list, titles, descriptions, store pictures and trailers, profiles, reviews, prompts, imported models, photos, support messages and reports.
Not allowed anywhere on Genmodic
- Child safety. Any sexual or sexualised depiction of minors, or anything that grooms or exploits children. We report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and close the account.
- Other people's work. Models, textures, music, characters, logos or whole worlds you don't have the rights to, including paid assets from other stores and ripped game assets. See Copyright and takedowns.
- Violent extremism and terrorism: praising, recruiting for or recreating real attacks.
- Hate and harassment: attacking people for who they are (race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, and similar), threats, bullying, or targeting a real private person.
- Real people depicted in sexual, degrading or deceptive ways, or someone's private information (doxxing).
- Sexual content and nudity. Pornographic or sexually explicit worlds and models, and nudity, at every rating, including Mature 18+.
- Self-harm: content that encourages suicide, self-harm or eating disorders.
- Illegal activity: instructions for weapons that cause mass harm, selling illegal goods, fraud, or anything else illegal where you or your viewers are.
- Deception: impersonating people or brands, fake Genmodic pages, scams, or worlds that mislead buyers about what they get.
- Malicious files: models or worlds made to crash, exploit or attack the editor or other people's computers.
Realistic violence in a story or game (a sword fight, a battlefield, a crime scene in a mystery) is fine. Graphic gore and strong horror are allowed only when the world or model is rated Mature 18+ (see below).
Content ratings
Every world you share and every model you list has a rating. You choose it when you share or list; pick the rating for the strongest thing in it, including the models it uses.
| Rating | What it can have | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| All ages | Nothing frightening or violent beyond cartoon bumps and chases. | Everyone. |
| Teen 13+ | Some violence without much blood, scary moments, mild language. | Everyone. |
| Mature 18+ | Graphic violence and gore, strong horror, strong language, references to drugs. Never sexual content or nudity. | Only people signed in whose date of birth shows they're 18 or over. It's left out of Explore, the store, the Marketplace and profiles for everyone else, and its page and files won't open for them. |
- Only creators 18 and over can rate their work Mature 18+.
- Something rated too low can be reported with Report, choosing the rating it should have. If three different people say it should be Mature 18+, it's hidden from under-18s until we've looked at it.
- We can raise a rating. You can't then set it lower, though you can raise it further. Repeatedly rating things too low is treated like any other breach of these rules.
- Your own worlds and models, and those you've bought, always stay open to you.
Using the platform fairly
- Don't get around plan limits, pack locks, credits, sign-in or rate limits, or share an account across people.
- Don't scrape Genmodic, or extract the library's models outside of Export.
- Don't fake plays, purchases, reports or reviews, or use bots or many accounts.
- Don't use the Director or other AI features to make anything these rules forbid, or try to make the AI ignore its safety rules. Our AI provider's usage policy also applies.
- Don't test our security without following the security policy.
- Don't send spam or unwanted messages to other people through anything Genmodic offers.
Extra rules for sold worlds and models
Sold worlds and models also follow the Creator Terms: the title, description, pictures, trailer and tags must honestly show what the buyer gets, and it must work when it's bought.
Reporting
Signed in, use Report this world or Report this model on its page (you can also say what its rating should be), or email hello@genmodic.com. For copyright, send a takedown notice as described in Copyright and takedowns. Report child sexual abuse material to NCMEC's CyberTipline as well.
What we do
Depending on how serious it is and whether it's happened before, we may: ask you to change something, raise its rating, make a world private, remove it from Explore or from sale, remove a world, model or review, pause selling or sharing, or suspend or close the account. Serious harms (child safety, credible threats) lead to closure straight away and, where the law requires, a report to the authorities. We'll tell you what we did and why unless the law or someone's safety stops us, and you can appeal by replying to our notice. If a sold world is removed, buyers are handled as in Plans, purchases and refunds.
