Copyright and takedowns

Last updated 17 October 2026

In short

If a world or model on Genmodic uses your work without permission, send us a notice with the details below and we'll take it down. If your world or model was taken down by mistake, you can send a counter-notice. Accounts that infringe repeatedly are closed.

1. Reporting infringement

We respond to notices under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and similar laws elsewhere. Send a written notice to our designated agent (section 4) that includes:

  1. your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine);
  2. what work you say is infringed (for example a 3D model, a texture, a character or music), or a list if there are several;
  3. where it is on Genmodic: the world's or model's link, and where in the world if you can;
  4. your name, address, phone number and email;
  5. a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
  6. a statement that the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.

Knowingly false claims can make you liable for damages. Think about fair use before sending a notice. For other problems (trademarks, privacy, offensive content), use Report this world or Report this model, or email hello@genmodic.com.

2. What we do

When we receive a complete notice, we promptly remove or disable access to the material, tell the person who posted it, and give them a copy of the notice (which may include your name and contact details). If the world or model was being sold, it stops selling, and buyers may be refunded as described in Plans, purchases and refunds. Today a takedown hides the item from everyone except people who already bought it, and sends no notice: block it for buyers too (or refund them), and email the poster, before launch.

3. Counter-notices

If you believe your material was removed by mistake or misidentification, send our agent a counter-notice that includes:

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. what was removed and where it was before;
  3. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification;
  4. your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, outside the US, any judicial district where Genmodic may be found), and will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.

We'll send the counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they've filed a court action, we'll restore the material within 10 to 14 business days. There's no restore button yet; until there is, restoring is done by hand in the database.

4. Our designated agent

Copyright Agent, Fingerprint Creative Inc.

Registered with the US Copyright Office, registration number DMCA-number

5. Repeat infringers

We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright. An account gets a strike for each valid notice that isn't successfully countered. Three strikes within 12 months closes the account; a single deliberate or serious case (for example uploading a paid asset store's models for sale) can close it at once. Strikes expire after 12 months. Closed accounts' sold worlds and models are removed and buyers refunded as needed. Strikes aren't counted in the app yet: keep a written strike log from the first notice, and build it in before launch.
